Gond
Gond paintings are a traditional art of Madhya Pradesh and belong to the Gond tribe. They are mainly done in Patangarh Village in Dindori district of Madhya Pradesh. The Gond tribe believes that seeing a good image brings lots of good luck to them and Bright colors such as red, yellow, blue, green are commonly used Natural colors are obtained from charcoal, colored soils, plants, leaves, etc.
Subjects of paintings are usually from either nature – peacocks, birds, lions, tigers, The Mahua Tree as Tree of Life, aspects of the daily life of Gond people or Hindu gods such as Lord Shiva, Lord Krishna, Lord Ganesha, are popular Gond art subiects as well.
Made using a pattern or decorative design or a combination of patterns that are repeated several times to fill an image.
